Violence in the News

In recent news a man went to the Mall of America (MOA) in Minneapolis, MN in search of a victim to kill. His admitted he was there on that specific day to kill someone because of the transgressions he felt from women. He reported being at the mall before and being turned down by women.

Reports from mall staff were that he was asking women to buy him food and date him. When they refused, he threw water on them and went into a tirade of expletives, ultimately being kicked out of the MOA. He was shot down in other attempts outside of the mall as well, and used this anger to formulate a plan to go to the place of his transgressions, search out a person, and kill them in protest.

This is inherently a male thing to do, to use violence as a means to feel better about rejection. You would need to search high and low to find a female version of this where they used extreme violence on an unsuspecting individual as revenge for being rejected.

Of course there are always exceptions and women, like all humans, have the propensity to promote and engage in violent acts. And when compared to men, it pales in comparison and likely always will.

He Found an Easy Target

In the case of the individual, Emmanuel Aranda, that went to the MOA to kill, his objective was set before ever setting foot in the mall that day. The family of the 5 year old child that became his target never had the chance to prevent what was coming. Ultimately the man found the small child, after searching for easier prey than the men and women who were in abundance, and threw him over the edge of the concourse several stories up resulting in a near fatal crash to the floor.

There is likely some underlying mental health issues with this man for him to do this without hesitation. And even with this possibility, it is inherently male to even have the thought that since they were rejected, they had any right at all to impend on another’s right to life.

Retaliation of Rejection

The retaliation to rejection has never been limited to physical violence. A common response to rejecting any male is for them to hurl insults toward the rejector calling into question everything from their sexuality, looks, ability to be a human, and why they never really wanted them anyway, which always seems suspect since minutes earlier they were professing their undying love for them.
